This is the 3rd time I am Subscribing to this channel! Hmmm... 🤔 Anyway, in answer to the title of this video: YES! Unfortunately YES. They were portrayed as being "slightly" better than the Harkonnen troops. With one very irritating (Now that I've seen it a few times) exception. That was in the first movie on the night of the attack. The Atreides troops in a double line on the steps handing the Harkonnens their asses to them. Only to have Sardaukar float in behind them and then DECIMATE the Atreides without breaking a sweat. I almost want to skip past that scene... The fight with Duncan doesn't count as we know he was on another level. These Sardaukar ain't no big deal over-all. They are anything but Elite. Don't know HOW this was OK'd in the script. Don't get me started with Chani sucking the energy out of every scene she was in with her "petulant child" routine... LOL

Im confused by one thing, how come house atreides died out in one night? Don't they have a WHOLE planet. It can't be they took all their forces to one city and get destroyed so easily right

The new Dune movies are great but the story is so complex that for a better, and more accurate, production we'd need a high-budget TV Series with many seasons. Like Game of Thrones. I think the audience would welcome that.

Guild Navigators, Tylaxu, gholas are all being saved for Dune Messiah. Villanueve is a patient craftsman, but we should expect to be enthralled but all of this weirdness as a counterpoint to the grounded political intrigue, and the denouement of the Paul, Chani, Alia arc. I do hope that Jessica continues in some sort of Reverend Mother of the Universe role, RF is too good to waste, as is JB and even the other JB. Alia's role will be challenging but ATG seems up to it after The Northman. And Duncan Idaho's return would be a crowd pleaser. We can all hardly wait for Dec. 2026.

I sure wish that more seasons of SGU (or even a movie -- or, movies) would be made. I loved SGU, and I watched every episode on the exact day that they aired. Such an incredible show.

I think the change from the water of death to nukes was a good change. The nukes need a lot less exposition to explain how they could stop spice production. I admire the efficiency of the change.

You can’t have Aliens on Earth 30 years before the original Alien movie because if you have them on earth you wouldn’t need Ash to join the Nostromo or send Ripley and crew to LV 426. This premise doesn't make sense. Unless it's a show only about Wayland and development of androids with no Xenomorph in site. Yah it's a stupid reboot and we all hate reboots...

I remember reading somewhere during Vladimir Harokkens early days that his mother who was a horrible person had the father murdered in her desire for power. Vladimir was angry at this and referred to her as a deadly spider. He had his mother tortured for her crime. I always thought that he had her turned into a spider by the Tleilaxu. When Piter refers to it as "our pet" he says it in a surly manner to indicate it was something more. Yes, I believe it is Vladimir's mother. And he revels in her daily misery.

F' Roland E. It wasn't his idea to begin with anyway. Brad Wright is the one that took this mythos up and beyond to literally a galactic scale. I think any new Stargate needs to have Brad Wright to continue the story. I really want to see the homemade Stargate. Ohhh and bring back Vala!!!!!!!

Honestly I think Battle Star Galactica would work really well as an animated series. Like the characters and sets would be 2D animated but all the space battles would be a stylized 3D animation.

I hated the TV shows…. They strayed too far from the original story.

Out of all the Stargate stories, I liked the paperbacks by Bill McCay the most: SG Rebellion (bk 1), Retaliation (bk 2), and Retribution (bk 3) Reconnaissance (bk 4). It picked right up with the original movie and had great momentum. Additionally it was extremely descriptive of the alien technologies & when you rewatched the Movie you began to notice stuff you never would have realized by just relying on the movie alone. Unfortunately the McCay series never made it any farther than the 6th(?) book which left me totally heartbroken as I thought it was far superior to any other storyline that I had seen.

I'm more inclined to trust the interpretation of one of the series creators over one of the actors. Even if it means we really don't know what the final Kara was. After all, she's not really unique in this; we are never really given an absolutely clear statement of what #6 and Baltar were. For that matter we don't entirely understand the importance of the "Final Five." For instance who or what killed the #3 who figured out who they were? She recognized that they were real beings and begged them to forgive her just before she was kicked back into reality and died. Also; where did the music that brought the final five together come from what was it's purpose in doing so? I could list more questions as well, but I think those are the most important. It was an incredible series that really made you think about a lot of things.

Hello Nerd Cookies, Have you seen the trailer for "Tron: Ares" at the recent Comic Con? I understand the footage was spectacular! And Nine Inch Nailes will do the soundtrack.

I enjoyed the original film, the first television series, and Atlantis. But Universe was very poor, more of a soap opera than a science fiction series. I'm curious about what Emmerich's second and third films would have been like, but the idea for the third sounds rather hokey. As for new works in that universe, I really don't want anything new to come out as long as Amazon holds the rights, considering what a hatchet job they've done on Lord of the Rings.

Another aspect that I believe was glossed over in the movies was the fact that in Fremen culture, for someone (especially a male) to survive to maturity and full adulthood, he had to be an excellent fighter, either able to defeat any challenger, or with a fearsome enough reputation to dissuade challengers. In Fremen combat, such as when Jamis challenged and defeated Geoff to "win" Harah as his wife, not only did Jamis claim Harah, but also Geoff's water. In a society where death by thirst is a major factor, desperate men would likely be challenging other men to combat simply for a chance to gain their water, to go along with all the other reasons (honor, leadership) that Fremen would fight amongst themselves. Therefore it would stand to reason that just about any adult Fremen warrior would be highly skilled in melee combat, or they would not have survived the brutal Darwinian process of fighting among their peers.

I actually enjoyed Moon Fall. It’s a bit campy, just like the Stargate movie.

Making any Stargate in the current political environment would be a BAD idea. Unless you yearn to see unarmed all female teams going to planets populated by only lesbians. I kid you not.

I also feel the freeman weren't given enough credits as well. These people's were SAVAGE in conflict, we kinda got that from them siphoning water from enemies, but the Freeman are ELITE.

All I can say is JH’s adaptation of Legion was solid and quite entertaining. While his adaptations of the film Fargo was absolutely outstanding. So I’m not going into this thick there are lines he can’t cross just because that’s the way I feel. I will let it stand alone and judge it on its own merits….

I THINK THE PLAYED OUT MOVIE FRANCHINSE HAS SATISFIED THE FANS....... IT WAS NOT NEEDED FOR A FEW MOVIES ABOVE AND BEYOND THE TV VERSION OF MOVIES......ALL IS SATISFIED.....BUT WHY THE FISH IN THE LAKE...????

Alien: earth. Oh wow! That's a real thought-out title. I would have been more impressed with Alien the TV series.

I'm always interested in exploring 'might have been's. As much as I enjoyed the Stargate TV shows immensely, you could tell with the change in actors, there was a change in tone and direction. For the TV shows, it worked. But, I always wondered what a proper movie sequel to the original might have looked like.

Roland Emmerich is a hack. That is all.

At some point, I'd also like to hear about the planned ending to Stargate Universe, and what the structure in the background cosmic radiation was. Joseph Mallozzi has said he heard about the plans from Brad Wright, but was asked to keep it a secret by Wright. Also, I think the planned sequels for the Stargate movie involving Mayan pyramids, yeti, and Nessy would've just been more alien involvement on earth (Mayan Pyramids), and alien creatures transported to earth (like yeti and Nessy).

man Stargate has so much wasted potential by incompetence. under Amazon it's guaranteed to end up extremely woke garbage.

Everyone has to remember that the original movie was a surprise hit. The director and writers were just getting started. That's why they don't own the Rights. But it turned out to be a good thing because the Producers of SG1 had free reign to add their own ideas using the original premise. Turns out they were able to take the series and run with it. Still they too had to fight with the Studio. The truth is the higher ups are just as stupid as the nobodies posting comments on RUclips. Luckily enough good shows and movies still get made but the losers in the haters society are convinced they know how to make a good film by looking at the good work of others and figuring their opinions had something to do with it. The Studio has the final word and from what I have seen over the years they could ruin a wet dream.

I would prefer another TV series. One that would finish telling the main story plot of SGU in some way, bring Atlantis back to the Pegasus galaxy, and resume stargate travels to new worlds like usual. Don't need any of the old actors as the stargate program was so huge, they can tell stories from the perspective of any team, or many teams. I think the show was at it's best when each episode was a complete story while getting pieces of bigger story lines bit by bit, ending the season with the conclusion of those bigger story lines.
